Derek Miller

Derek Miller is a founder and creative director of Spry, an independent studio and production company headquartered in Orlando. He leads creative direction and development across original shows, series with brands and creators, and commercial projects for brands and agencies. His background in design and marketing informs the work: understanding what a project needs to accomplish and finding a story people want to watch.

Derek began his career in graphic design and print before studying Digital Arts and Design at Full Sail. He started Spry in 2011, growing a web design business into a digital agency. He later partnered with Josh Hemingway to build the company around filmmaking. Longstanding client relationships grew with the studio, including work for Baker Tilly that expanded from interactive projects into film and photography. Twelve years on, Baker Tilly is still a client.

Spry's work with the National Mango Board became another turning point, evolving from the Origin Stories films into The Spirit of Mango. Today, the studio brings development, production, partnerships, and distribution planning together around its projects. Derek also steps in front of the camera in Sweet Homes, following four friends building a house on Alabama's Smith Lake.
